Sparkly Dotticure

For my first post I have done a simple manicure, or rather dotticure, which is what we call a manicure design made up of dots. Dotticures are very versatile. You can get anything from a chic and sophisticated look, to a fun bouncy one. This one is somewhere in the middle.
Dots all over the nail tend to be on the "fun-bouncy" side. The glitter adds the sophistication.
I had to take the pictures for this post with a phone because the battery in the camera is dead and it's charger is nowhere to be found. Sorry for the low quality. (What a great way to start off a blog right?)

The first step in any manicure (or pedicure) is the base-coat.
#1 Base coat

      Step two is base-color.
#2 Base-color
I used a mauve color, but you can use what ever color you would like. Pick coordinating colors for the dots.
#3 First color of dots

#4 Second color of dots
There are many things that can be used as dotting-tools. The end of a bobby pin is one option. Many people stick a sewing pin into the eraser on a pencil and use the head for a dotting tool. You can also buy dotting tools from Walmart, Amazon, etc.
I used two colors for my dots. You can use more or less, depending on the look you want to achieve. Using too many colors may create a distracting mess on your nails.
To add the sophistication I used some gold glitter, sprinkling it on while the polish was still wet.

The last step in the manicure is top-coat. Top coat creates a nice glossy finish (unless you use matte top-coat), as well as helping the manicure to last longer.

So that's the finished product. Easy and interesting. It looks even better in person than it does in the bad phone pic. Have fun!
